Regan who is 12 loves technology, I think for the sheer fact that there are buttons to push, and it makes things happen. She is truly an obsessed child. As an infant any V_tech toy or thing that made noise, was pressed over and over til you wanted to hide all batteries, and get in fetal position. As she has gotten older her tastes have changed.
Two years ago she wanted a laptop desperately so I was fortunate enough to come across one at a rummage sale for $10, that was a little outdated and had no internet access. She proceeded to spend hours making herself demo websites, learning powerpoint, and basically learning all ins and out of her machine. This summer her laptop died, and she still keeps it around to pretend play with her sister. Saturday they spent all morning playing "The Rachel Zoe Project" with Regan as the assistant, and Rebecca as the ever fashionable Rachel Zoe. That afternoon they played hotel to the stars, with Regan as the clerk, and Rebecca playing a never ending supply of famous people checking into the hotel with all their demands and entourage.
It cracks me up that an absolutely useless piece of equipment still gets so much use and play time at our house, that I am not sure I even want to replace it. Although both girls have asked, when a new laptop will be coming. My answer is always the same. Next time I find another one at a rummage sale for $10. Rebecca swears though that this time it will be hers just to be fair. SO anyone out there in internet world getting rid of a laptop or upgrading and wants to make two young girls sublimely happy.....just let me know.
