Preparing for hurricane Ike

Well my family and I discussed this morning our hurricane Ike strategy. We are about 60 miles inland from the coast, and we understand that puts us in the evacuation zone if it grows bigger. Basically a 3 or 4 and they like to evacuate up to 80 miles inland, especially if you are on the northern surge side.

On the plus side, we have been in a drought for so long, most people are looking forward to the rain despite the damage it might cause. most of my friends have left to board up their coast houses, before they come home and decide what to do with their main homes.

My girls were concerned with what goes with us if we evacuate or not. That is really a great question! They of course want to bring all their stuff, because to a ten or 12 year old that seems most important. My main thought was all my scrapbooking I have painstakingly been doing for years, and my jewelry. My husband was more concerned with his golf gear and his office. You can tell how varied our priorities are. So this morning, I am obsessively listening to the weather channel, I am getting some work done on a tutu I am making for the weekend, that someone ordered. I still have a few scrapbook pages I need to finish for a client, plus I am prioritizing my house. Ugh!
