The first thing that caught my eye....is how good that strawberry looks dipped in that sugar (and will it really taste that great). Well, when my box of Truvia arrived the first thing I did was rip into a packet...lick my finger and see for myself. It was good! It was not sickly sweet like sugarcane sugar, and it was not chemically odd like those horrific pink packets. It was almost a light sweet unlike any I had tasted. Both of my girls dipped in their fingers for their own taste test...and agreed with me completely.
The next day I took it to church to asked the Adult Sunday School class to try it in their coffee (and get their venerable opinions). They were more than happy to be guinea pigs for me, and every single one of them liked it...and said it was "different, but quite tasty". I had so many request packets to share with their family at home...I nearly ran out for me to keep a few for myself. Anyway it has been the perfect addition to smoothies for breakfast to help naturally sweeten the frozen fruit.
So here is the low-down on this sweetener. The reason it tastes so natural is because it is 100% natural instead of being from sugarcane like traditional sugar....it comes from the leaves of the Stevia plant. It has no calories (guilt-free usage!), and one packet is the equivalent of two teaspoons of sugar. I have really enjoyed Truvia and I am excited to be able to give a box away for you to form your own opinions about.
