At the tumbling gym where I work in the evenings....you can tell what season it is by the increase in junior high/high school girls all with anxious faces and nervous mommas. It is Cheerleading Tryout Season! Several of the coaches are booked for private lessons every spare second of the evening. Where do I fit into the mix? well not only am I taking on a few more classes to teach.....I am also officially the go-to gal for Mascot Tryouts.
Now normally I enjoy this immensely, and no I was never a mascot....I was in fact a cheerleader. But, for some reason, this is the niche I have become known for. Up until this year I could also say that I had a 100% success record too.....every kid I coached made mascot. It was because I was usually working with a few girls from different schools. This year that will not be the case.
This year I am working with four young ladies all reeeeeeeaaaaallllly wanting to become the new Tiger for one of the local Catholic junior highs. So for the first time ever I am working with four people who are vying for two spots. It absolutely sucks! Not only am I in creative overload to make each routine unique and different to the worst music ever put together (I'm sorry but rotating out "WangChung" with"R*O*C*K* in the U.S.A" along with five seconds of "The Wheels on the Bus" does not make for good music no matter who is doing the choreography). I am going into this knowing two will not make it.
So, in the middle of my work at home (blogging/scrapbooking), getting ready for a huge garage sale next weekend, getting ready to leave for Disney in two weeks, I have four young ladies to coach on the side. Forget that I am in need of a computer memory upgrade....I am in need of a me upgrade!
