Family Game: Choose Your own Adventure Day

Since my philosophy with the girls is to parent outside the box as much as possible today fits right in with my game plan. I had promised the girls for a while now that we would set aside an entire day when they are both home for a "Choose Your Own Adventure Day" What this means is we load the car up with gas and a cooler full of snack food and at every major intersection each of the girls gets to choose which direction we will take.

In my mind a major intersection is highway or farm to market road which we have a lot of here in south Texas. Then after about two hours we will see what local community this has lead us to and wander around, eat, find historical markers, and possibly geocache if I can get my phone working properly. Then we head back home with a day of memories under our belt.

The last time we did this we found all kinds of small Texas coastal towns and wandered a few beaches, explored a marsh a bit, and had great seafood. This time we may end up going a different direction completely it will just depend on the whim of the girls.

I love days like this where you just never know where life will take you and you just embrace the day for what it is.
