I was no longer "cool" enough to hang out with at the mall.
I had taken Regan, Rebecca, and an extra friend of the girls to the mall today as part of my shopping list of things I needed to get done with when we made it again to our neighboring "big town". My list included stopping by the cell phone store, running errands at the hardware store, clothes shopping for Regan, taking a look at potential christmas photo cards, and talking to several places about laptops and desktops to see what is coming available in two weeks when the next windows version comes out.
When we made it to the mall, and knew we would be there for a couple of hours, Rebecca and her friend asked immediately if they could walk about by themselves for a while, and shop with their money (i.e. the cookie company shop and aeropostale). They had the friend's cell phone and check in times, so I let them go.
It was a little sad honestly. I was no longer fun to shop with or be around. They met up with other friends that were there and had a wonderful time taking pictures in the photo booth, and walking around all the stores. I was a nervous wreck to know that four 11-12 yr old girls were unleashed on the mall and I could not watch them like hawks or even stalk them without being caught.
They managed perfectly and pronounced the afternoon a success. They checked in at the proper times and there was no fussing when it was time to leave. They behaved perfectly.... but I hate those too grown up for mom moments.
